An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Manager at The Wyllyotts Theatre to oversee and implement our busy programme of Amateur Dramatics, one-night showcases, hires from schools and local businesses and an annual pantomime run.

Responsibilities will include :

  • Reporting directly to the Theatre Manager you will rota and manage three full-time technicians and grow a pool of casual technicians.
  • Planning and implementing annual compliance inspection and maintenance on all relevant equipment, rota staff and work hands-on during some shows.
  • optimising the technical delivery of all projects that pass through the centre ensuring that all needs of the project are met safely and in line with best industry practice.

What we are looking for:

  • excellent knowledge of at least one professional discipline from lighting, audio, video or stage equipment and be able to operate equipment to a very high standard and carry out basic repairs and fault-finding investigations as needed.
  • be well versed in the relevant Health and Safety legislation and will ideally hold at least one of the following qualifications, IOSH Managing Safely, ABTT Bronze Theatre Technician Award, Diploma in Technical Theatre and / NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Previous experience in a Technical role

The post required shifts/weekend working with hours averaged monthly. Any overtime accrued will be offered as time off in lieu and overtime is paid for our very busy pantomime month.
